iU2 Pricing? - New on MacOpinion

811 In this week's MacIntelligence column on MacOpinion, Philip Machanick says:

"The U2 iPod edition has me puzzled.

"I can see the market for packaging an iPod for a specific fan base. What I find odd is the pricing strategy.

"In the US, you pay $50 extra, and get the extra back in the form of a coupon for The Complete U2. This sort of works where Apple has a music store, but it makes less sense in a market (like Australia) where there isn't a music store yet. But even in the US, it's a bit odd. If you are planning on getting The Complete U2 anyway, there is no real difference between the iPod U2 Special Edition and the ordinary 20GB iPod -- except the inconvenience of redeeming the coupon.

"So why the big price difference?......"
