Speed isn't everything, and when you use a machine a lot, tactile ergonomics and general user-friendliness and comfort loom a lot larger in the scheme of things than raw power, at least for me.
I suppose that eventually I'm going to have to take the plunge and get a MacIntel notebook, if for no other reason than to stay reasonably relevant to the topics I write about. Leopard may be the catalyst, as I'm forming a provisional impression that the lion's share of the OS 10.5 optimization effort went to the Intel side, with the Power PC version going begging.
An Apple Certified Refurbished Santa Rosa MacBook Pro is looking better and better.
However, what I really want is a MacIntel "Grandson o Pismo" - a computer about the size of a 15" MacBook Pro, with the latter's LCD-illuminated display in a choice of matte or glossy finish, but thicker to accommodate a removable device expansion bay. It wouldn't have to be as powerful as a MacBook Pro, but rather oriented toward low heat production and longer battery life with a lower-powered Intel processor
