Freeverse proudly announces the latest update to Hordes of Orcs, the dangerously addictive tower-defense game for Mac OS X. Hordes of Orcs 1.1 features new gameplay modes, new maps, performance improvements and more, providing even more reasons to keep those Orcs from breaking through. This is a free update for all registered owners of the game.

In Hordes of Orcs, wave after wave of successively stronger orcs are appearing from what the village elders call, "The Glowing Portal of Really Bad Things That We Should Have Bricked-Up a Long Time Ago." Players must construct walls and lethal towers to prevent the orcs from reaching the human village. If too many orcs make it to the village, it's time for an Orc Luau, and everyone is invited!

Hordes of Orcs is proud to use the +7systems Balance Engine to collect game-play information. The more info the Balance Engine collects, the better future versions of Hordes of Orcs can be tweaked, resulting in an awesome game only getting better. Only game-play information is transmitted back while you play Hordes of Orcs. At no time does Freeverse access any personal information (unless you count doing 683 damage to an Orc personal).

Update (January 15, 2007):

• "Gem Drop" Mode - Gems are falling from the sky, and the Orcs are rushing to grab them. Use your defenses to prevent them from leaving with their precious riches, and keep the spoils for yourself!
• "Endless" Mode For those who want to push themselves past the limit, we have created Endless mode. The Orcs will never stop coming, getting stronger with each passing wave. You will eventually succumb to the onslaught, but your glorious struggle might become the stuff of legends.
• New maps:
  • 2nd Chances
  • Crossover
• Camera rotation.
• Many other improvements and enhancements.
