1395 San Francisco, CA - prMac - The founders of GroupSmarts and Aquafadas first met at Macworld 2007 while showing their respective applications, MemoryMiner and PulpMotion, just a few booths apart. Three minutes into the conversation, the complementary nature of both apps became clear. MemoryMiner is the innovative annotation tool used to highlight and connect the people, places and events depicted in one's most precious photos. PulpMotion is the video animation tool that uses artfully-designed templates to set photos, audio/video and text in motion as high-quality Quicktime movies.

"When I first envisioned MemoryMiner I had clear ideas about using video animations to highlight the stories that just naturally bubble up in MemoryMiner," said GroupSmarts founder John Fox. "The first time I saw PulpMotion, it was the classic "Eureka" moment: I knew that we could use PulpMotion's animation engine to tremendous effect. Our users were clamoring for video output, and this was just the way to do it."

During Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference this past June, a MemoryMiner plugin for PulpMotion was first brought to life. Over the summer, the plugin was refined and two specially designed PulpMotion templates were created. The result is that PulpMotion can now load any number of MemoryMiner libraries, making the photos browse-able by people and place. After dragging photos into a PulpMotion timeline the selection markers that link people to specific areas of a photo are used to automatically guide the camera as it pans and zooms around each image.

Each person's name and age at the time the photo was taken "come for free" as part of the MemoryMiner annotation layer for each photo. This information is used for titling along with any other captions that have been entered in MemoryMiner. All text remains editable, while full control over timing, speed, and color are easily managed using a real-time preview. Quicktime output is guided by a number of presets suitable for iPod/iPhone, web and even High Definition.
