Using the included loops and a few vocal samples, I've managed to put together some goofy stuff that I'm really rather proud of. The only problem is finding new loops to create new songs.
Yesterday I stumbled across an interesting corner of the BBC's website. They call it their Virtual Studio Sample Bank, and it contains over 1,000 loops for your downloading pleasure. They're mostly suited for that there techno music that the kids are into nowadays, but there's also a healthy selection of drum beats and other effects.
One problem: they're all in WAV format. However, Garageband 2 had no problem translating the files and keep the tempo correct.
There doesn't appear to be any info on what rights you have in regards to the use of these loops. All the home page says is these are "over 1,000 free music samples for you to use" and that you can "use in your own music."
So, for all you budding DJ's out there, get cracking. The light stick industry needs you!
