ExactScan, the universal binary Mac OS X software, and Avision scanner with pre-packaged software, are available in our online store and selected resellers worldwide.
In places where lots of documents, stacks of paper are handled it often is more comfortable to interact as least as possible - if not at all - with on-screen user interfaces. Therefore most recent document scanners come with hardware controls to choose profiles and start the scan process. This allows to focus on the document handling at the actual scanner.
ExactScan version 2 now allows to monitor the scanner in the background as well as to manage the individual scanner profiles.
The profiles allows the specific workflows to be set up once, for example the companies IT staff, and scan with those pre-defined settings. This way the processing of regular mail, invoices, QA documents can be automated and the desired settings and destination pre-defined for a seamless work-flow.
Automatic and optimizing binarization
Often the scanned originals are more than optimal: years old, colors faded and the paper yellowed. Just scanning these documents with conventional software does yield far from ideal results that are nor well readable, very difficult for an OCR system to recognize and consume extraordinary amounts of storage space to archive.
ExactScan therefore comes with a sophisticated optimizing enhancement algorithms that help making most out of difficult or old documents. The transition to binary files significantly reduces storage cost for archives with thousands or even milions of files.
With automatic cropping, automatic de-skewing and automatic thresholding you get perfect electronic pages out of analog paper - even if it is a third blind carbon copy with folds and barely readable by the human eye.
Intuitive file naming for everyone
File naming needs differ from company to company and from use case to use case. Therefore ExactScan supports flexible naming of files to be created during the scan process. Historically, in the PC world this usually was archived by cryptic, unreadable encodings that often had to be looked up in the manual every time they where to be changed.
ExactScan makes use of advanced Mac OS X user interface elements and allows comfortable editing of the resulting filename:
The ExactScan batch scan application is written as native, universal binary, Cocoa application, without Carbon or other compatibility code. It was designed for high performance batch scanning from an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for a seamless automatic document scanning experience, every day.
