Ellison marries, turns over Chairman position

1729 Mac News website MacCentral reports that outspoken software executive (and former Apple board member) Larry Ellison has turned over his chairmanship of Oracle to Jeff Henley, the company's Chief Financial Officer.

From MacCentral:

In addition two executives, Safra Catz and Charles Phillips, were appointed as company presidents reporting to Ellison, Oracle said. The database giant has been without a president since Ray Lane left in June 2000 to work at a venture capital firm.

In an unrelated story, the San Jose Mercury News has also confirmed that Ellison has married his fiancee, romance novelist Melanie Craft.

The Mercury notes, not without a sense of irony, that:

According to Craft's Web site, the author's third novel is called, "Man Trouble,'' and will be out in May. The book tells the story of Sandra, a romance author, who wants to reform Jake, a bad-boy billionaire whose flamboyant lifestyle is hurting his company's business.

This is Ellison's fourth marriage.

Bill's been using Macs since the late 80s. When he's not making smartass remarks to amuse Kirk Hiner, he enjoys fighting for the user.
