Elance Launches Skills Test for iPhone Developers

222
With the largest network of rated and certified technology and marketing talent, Elance has seen a strong demand for iPhone development skills, with nearly 200 projects posted in the past six months alone.

Available only on Elance, the iPhone Skills Test allows developers to demonstrate proficiency on the platform and attract new clients while enabling employers to hire qualified iPhone developers to create new, cutting-edge applications for the iPhone.

"The opening of the iPhone platform to outside developers will drive new and innovative mobile applications for a huge and growing market. Consumers are eager for new applications and businesses are poised to capitalize on the iPhone excitement," commented Ray Lane, partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a venture capital firm that has launched a $100M fund to find and develop iPhone applications. "Elance provides a great platform for entrepreneurs ready to seize this opportunity."

Equinox Application Development owner Mark Hanusz is one of hundreds of businesses that are tapping into the talent pool of tested iPhone developers working on Elance. Hanusz hired an iPhone developer on Elance to create an educational flashcard program for children that teaches letters, numbers and colors. "By working with developers from Elance, a great idea has been transformed into a great application," said Hanusz.

Hanusz works with experienced application developer and Elance service provider Nick Dalton, owner of 360mind, to develop the new iPhone application he conceived. Dalton gets new iPhone work everyday through Elance. "Businesses are eager to get applications developed and delivered before the June launch of the new iPhone and AppStore. I feel like a tax accountant -- getting everything done by April 15th," commented Dalton. "I get more business through Elance than any other web site. The projects on Elance are well defined and the collaboration is a breeze."

"Application development is the fastest growing category on the Elance site -- with more than 32,000 developers and 4,500 more signing up each week. Access to the iPhone platform represents a new frontier in innovation for small businesses and developers," said Fabio Rosati, CEO of Elance. "Our iPhone Skills Test opens the door for savvy small businesses to access this huge consumer market."
