Desktopple 1.1 Hides Desktop Clutter - OS X Odyssey 791
With the little freeware utility Desktopple, you can quickly and easily hide all of your Desktop clutter. A quick trip to your menu bar is all it takes.
For example, here's what my desktop usually looks like:

Actually, it's even more chaotic than that, since I hid the roughly three dozen windowshaded open application windows before taking this screnshot.
However, one selection/click in the Desktopple menulet, and voila!:

Pretty cool, eh?
DeskTopple features include:
° Quickly hides your entire Desktop for screenshots or presentations
° Toggling Desktop hiding is as easy as touching a HotKey
° Hide the Desktop with your Desktop picture or a customizable background color
° Menu bar icon shows status
° Doesn't require a Finder restart to work
Desktopple is a Menu Bar item. Launch it, and it will hang out in your menu bar. Click it, and you'll get a list of all its options. If you want it there every time you launch, simply add it to your Login Items in your System Preferences.

Speaking of preferences, DeskTopple's allow you to set several paramenter, specify keyboard shortcuts, and such.
