CUPS-PDF 2.4.6 Prints To PDF Files

2558 CUPS-PDF is a backend module for CUPS (Mac OS X’s printing system) by Volker C. Behr that, rather than printing to a device, prints straight to PDF files.

Why use this rather than a simple “Save as PDF” in the print dialog?

• Pressing return is faster.
• Batch-print through the writer to convert documents to PDF.
• Common save location for all generated PDFs.

Due to the nature of the program, the title of the document you print is the name of the file, so printing a document twice will overwrite the file. Be aware of this.

New in version 2.4.6:
• optimized default options for GS to produce PDFs
• enclosing parentheses () are removed from title
• set a more comprehensive identification string
• DOS-style path separators '\' are now recognized
• replaced 'setenv' by 'putenv' to increase compatibility
• several code optimizations
• PostScript PPD now uncompressed and rev4 only
• added a new revision of the PostscriptColor PPD file
• Mac OS X: Updated cups-pdf.conf to create unique filenames by default (Label)

This version is a universal binary and runs on PPC and Intel Macs.

System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
