Corel Corporation has announced that Corel Painter X has been honored by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO) with the "Good Design Award." Corel Painter X was chosen from over 2900 submissions in the communication design category by a 12 member panel representing Japan's design, technical and news industries.

In its award-winning assessment of Corel Painter X, the JIDPO panel praised the product on a variety of technological innovations, including its high level of performance and functionality combined with a user-friendly interface. Painter X's RealBristle Painting System received special attention for its ability to replicate traditional media interaction in a digital environment. RealBristle provides an organic painting and illustration experience to artists—right down to the individual bristles on the brush.

"Corel Painter X continues to blur the line between traditional and digital art like no other product, which is a major reason that it continues to be the pre-eminent digital painting software worldwide," said Rob MacDonald, Product Manager for Corel Painter. "We are thrilled to be recognized with this prestigious award, which recognizes our continued commitment to providing the most powerful natural art experience for our customers, both in Japan and throughout the world."

Corel Painter X is the world's most powerful natural media painting and illustration software, delivering a next-generation art studio that blurs the line between traditional and digital art like never before. Working closely with photographers and other design professionals, the Painter X team explored the relationship between the artist's hand and the canvas. As a result, Corel Painter X has become the industry standard for digital painting and illustration, with the introduction of unparalleled performance, new composition tools and the revolutionary RealBristle Painting System.
