Chandler Open Source PIM

4096 Chandler Project is an open source, standards-based personal information manager (PIM) built around small group collaboration and a core set of information management workflows modelled on Inbox usage patterns and David Allen's GTD methodology.
Our goal is to serve the way people actually work, independently and together, particularly in small groups, a market segment we believe is underserved. Our belief is that personal and collaborative information work is by nature iterative and that the existing binary Done/Not-Done, Read/Unread, Flagged/Unflagged paradigm in productivity software poorly accommodates the reality of how people work.

We are also committed to breaking down technological barriers that prevent effective collaboration. Chandler Desktop and Chandler Server are cross-platform and standards-based because we realize that collaboration can't and shouldn't be trapped within a single system. Chandler Server provides web access to shared information that makes it easy for collaborators to hook into Chandler workflows without having to download the Desktop application.

Target User

The Chandler Knowledge Worker
Chandler's Target User is more than just a glutton for information. Information is the substance of their work and more information is the output of their work: Research, proposals, priorities, direction and decisions? Somewhere in between, knowledge is gained and shared.

For people who use their Inbox as their task list, Chandler Preview picks up where your Inbox leaves off.

Chandler consists of a cross-platform (Windows, Mac OS X and Linux) Chandler Desktop application and Chandler Hub, a sharing service and web application. Chandler is open source and standards-based.

Manage everything from a central Dashboard. Stay focused without losing track of the things you can't get to right away. Tickle items to cycle back into focus automagically.
Schedule and Coordinate meetings and events across multiple calendars.
Send, edit and update individual items via email. Share Dashboards and Calendars that are integrated into your personal work space yet easily accessible to others on the web.

Our goal for Preview is to test drive Chandler and collect feedback that will in turn, guide our efforts to a more robust and responsive 1.0!
