Do Not Update To iPhone 1.1.3 If You Want Unofficial Third-party Apps
iPhone Atlas says:
If you make use of unofficial third-party iPhone applications and would like their presence on your phone to persist, refrain from updating to iPhone software/firmware 1.1.3 when it is released. Early indications are that this update not only disables any previously enacted open reading/writing of the iPhone filesystem (jailbreak) hence disallowing unofficial applications to run, but also makes it - currently - impossible to downgrade to previous iterations of the firmware/software that can make use of unofficial applications. ...

'First' iPhone Trojan Rolls Into Town
The Register's John Leydenreports:
Hackers have created Trojan horse malware targeted at Apple's much-hyped iPhone device.
The package - more of a prank than a threat - poses as an "important system" upgrade supposedly needed prior to upgrading to version 1.1.3 of Apple's firmware. The "iPhone firmware 1.1.3 prep" seems to lack malicious purpose. Problems kick in when users try to uninstall the package.

PC Mag: Belkin Announces Podcast Studio
"Last year at CES, Belkin announced the Tune Studio, a way for bands to record music directly to an iPod. It was an ingenious tool for demo recording on the go, if not necessarily an implement for recording a studio album. This year, Belkin has taken the same basic concept and simplified it even more, with podcasters in mind. The Podcast Studio is portable and allows users to record interviews and sound bites directly onto an iPod. Made specifically for the new nanos, 5th generation video iPods, and the new iPod classic, Podcast Studio also automatically uploads your recorded files to iTunes when you dock your iPod."
