Smith Micro Launches Free SendStuffNow File Delivery App for iPhone and iPad Devices
[Press Release]
Smith Micro Software, Inc. has released SendStuffNow for Apple's iPhone and iPad. The free App enables iPhone and iPad users to easily and securely send large files, track the status of pending file deliveries and create new invitations to allow additional users to access files that have already been uploaded. Now, regardless of location, consumers and professionals can create, access and manage shared file links with the tap of a screen. SendStuffNow for the iPhone and iPad also makes it possible to upload and share photos and videos captured on these devices.

The SendStuffNow App provides customers with the most secure way to deliver files over the Internet. When the application is launched, users simply select and upload the video, image or document file that needs to be shared. Those receiving files via SendStuffNow only need to click on links to files embedded in an email to download them through a Web browser, making sending and receiving files simple. SendStuffNow allows consumers to store and transmit files up to 2GB in size.

"In an increasingly mobile world, we understand that our customers require convenient and sometimes instant access to files, regardless of their physical location," said William W. Smith, Jr., President and CEO of Smith Micro Software. "We developed SendStuffNow with the mobile user in mind, and are excited to offer an easy-to-use solution that makes it possible for businesses and individual end-users to seamlessly and securely send files from virtually any iPhone or iPad. The release of our iPhone and iPad applications serves as the first in a series of steps Smith Micro plans to take to expand the mobile reach of SendStuffNow."

SendStuffNow takes advantage of Smith Micro's 20 years of experience in file compression and encryption through its use of patented StuffIt technology. StuffIt uses AES 256-bit encryption technology to protect the files in an archive. StuffIt also protects the metadata stored in the archive to prevent costly security holes left open by other file transfer solutions. The SendStuffNow Web service uses an RSA 2048-bit key and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt all communications between the server, client and Web browser.

Engadget's Richard Lai says:
Oh sure, VoIP on the iPod touch is hardly breaking news these days, but what if you could actually slap on a regular SIM card and make calls on said device? That's what Yosion's appropriately named Apple Peel 520 claims to do.....

Time Inc.'s iPad Problem Is Trouble for Every Magazine Publisher
MediaMemo's Peter Kafka reports:
Time Inc. likes to show off its iPad apps as a symbol of the company's future. But inside the publisher, the digital editions have become a source of hair-pulling frustration.
That's because the magazine giant has been unable to get Apple to let it sell and manage subscriptions for its iPad apps–much to Time Inc.'s surprise.....

The iPad Can Multitask! As A Plate..
ShinyShiny's Anna Leach says:
Nothing I like more than people using very expensive pieces of technology as plates. And iPads are perfect for being used as plates because they're so flat and plate-sized. Using your iPad to eat off means that - finally - it can multitask. Yes, as a plate, but hey....

Tennessee Driver License Practice Test Now Available for the iPad & iPhone
The Tennessee Department of Safety and the TN.gov team announce the availability of the driver license practice test application for the new iPad and iPhone. The driver license practice test can now be downloaded for free at the iTunes Store.
The app was included in the grand opening of Apple's iPad store earlier this year and Tennessee was one of the first states to offer an iPad app. Along with the iPhone version, the iPad app targets one of the largest mobile user segments – teenagers. The new applications are a great way to introduce teenagers to TN.gov and increase their awareness of eGovernment.
"This application is a great example of our Department's capacity to meet our young drivers where they are and provide them with the training tools necessary to improve safe and responsible driving." said Greta Dajani, Deputy Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Safety.
The practice test is designed to provide the necessary foundation to safely meet the responsibilities as a new driver. It's a free and convenient tool to assist in preparing for the written test required to obtain a driver license. It can also be used by existing driver license holders as a refresher for testing on the rules of the road.
TN.gov is the state of Tennessee's official website and is a collaborative effort between the state of Tennessee and NICUSA Tennessee, part of the eGovernment firm NIC's (NASDAQ: EGOV) family of companies.
NIC is the nation's leading provider of official government portals, online services, and secure payment processing solutions. For more information, visit:
