What Owning An iPhone Says About You (You're Likely Older, Richer, and Better Educated)
Pew Research Center Senior Writer Drew DeSilver says that the iPhone which is celebrating its sixth birthday this summer, has carved out a solid market position, and a demographically distinctive user base, within the context of smartphones, which more than half of Americans now own).

DeSilver notes that according to a recent Pew Research Center report on smartphone ownership, as of May 2013 25% of all U.S. cellphone owners and 43% of smartphone owners owned an iPhone. The survey found that more-affluent and more-educated people are much more likely than those with less income and education to say they own an iPhone. Indeed, fully half (49%) of cellphone owners with household incomes of $150,000 or more say their phone is an iPhone, as do 38% of owners with college degrees.

If This Is Really Them, The Forthcoming Cheap iPhones Are Hideous
Quartz's Christopher Mims notes that two different channels for leaks from Foxconn's production lines have released remarkably similar images of colored backs purported to be for the rumored cheap iPhone, and they're "hideous."
Of course, Mims says its entirely possible that these are just backs for knockoffs of iPhones that doesnt yet exist.

iOS 7 Multitasking Profiled
iMore's Rene Ritchie reports that iOS 7 multitasking not only packs an all new card and icon hybrid interface, but a new way for every app to multitask, intelligently, and without a huge hit to battery life or performance, and that iOS 7 finally brings multitasking to everyone on the iPhone, iPod, and iPad.
Editor's note: Ritchie is pretty enthusiastic about iOS 7's multitasking tweaks, and I enjoyed reading his article, but I guess "multitasking" has different connotations to different folks, and as of iOS 6 anyway, what passes for multitasking is lame and compromised. Especially the fact that you can't display two open windows from the same or different applications simultaneously, a capability without which IMHO "multitasking" can't be taken seriously, and evidently iOS 7 hasn't fixed that.

Firefox OS Starting Small But Thinking Big Says Mozilla CTO
The Register quotes Mozilla's CTO Brendan Eich saying that Firefox OS might have the secret sauce that could severely disrupt the market.
Mozilla isn't trying for an aggressive launch at the highest-value end of the smartphone with Firefox OS, he said, but rather looking to convert the 78 per cent of people who are on a feature phone to upgrade. Firefox OS is low-cost, designed to be easy to use, and has a crucial advantage in its developer support base, he claimed.

With 400k Downloads Of Incredimail For iPad, Perion Has Found The Killer Feature For Email Apps: Reading Emails
Perion, developer of the innovative Incredimail for iPad app, announced today that its new email client has been downloaded over 400 thousand times in just over three months since it launched. The company also revealed that users are highly engaged by the app, using it several times a day and swiping through eight pages of mails every time they use the app.
Incredimail for iPad launched just three months ago and brought a radically new email experience to users. The app reimagines email and it has been designed specifically for a touch interface. The app allows users to flip, swipe, and peak through their emails with a beautifully designed magazine-like interface. The whole experience has been centered on making reading emails easier and more enjoyable.

The Killer Feature Of An Email Client
Much of the discussion surrounding email clients today is focused on reaching Inbox Zero - having no unread emails. The discussion surrounding this issue has framed Inbox Zero as the Holy Grail of email clients. Following feedback and conversations with its users on the importance of clearing their inboxes, Perion discovered two key results: users do indeed place a high priority on clearing their inbox; users are already succeeding in doing so. These results run counter to the popular belief that users are struggling to clear their inboxes.
"It's clear that marking all messages as read is important to users, but its also a goal most users are already achieving," says Josef Mandelbaum, CEO of Perion. "What has been sorely lacking is a new paradigm for email that makes the process more enjoyable and focuses on the core email experience reading messages. Incredimail for iPad is optimized for reading and enjoying your emails, and leverages the power, simplicity, and inviting nature of touch devices to do so."
Incredimail for iPad was designed with the central focus of making it more enjoyable and easier to read mails, not just filing messages away or marking them as read. The redesigned inbox, with its large previews, peek feature that lets users quickly see the content of an email, and swipeable layout with multiple messages displayed at once, allows users to quickly scan through their emails and pull out the relevant content. Additionally, users can see content such as photos, videos, and articles from within the app thanks to Incredimails snippet feature, helping to ensure the most pleasant email experience.
Additionally, usage data from its iPad app show that users are highly engaged by the app and the streamlined experience it provides for reading email. Active users enter the app an average of three times per day and are swiping through inbox pages up to eight times per session. Additionally, the app has seen 37 million total page swipes, 23 million total emails received, and over 34.5 million push notifications.
Performance Enhancements And New Features
In the latest Incredimail for iPad version, users will find significant performance improvements making the fast software even faster. Incredimail now offers enhanced capabilities to assist with archiving, managing and moving messages to folders directly from full screen message view for a much smoother experience. Additionally, Incredimail is the first email app which allows users to share content directly to Facebook from within the app.
Additionally, the app has now been localized for seven additional languages including: Chinese (Mandarin & Traditional), Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish (Spain).

VoX Sends Its iPhone Mobile Video and VoIP App to Apple Store for Approval
Pervasip Corp's wholly-owned subsidiary, Vox Communications, a cloud-based voice and video communications solutions, apps and services provider, has submitted its highly anticipated mobile VoIP and video calling application to Apple to be included in the Apple iTunes digital store.
VoX's Chief Information Officer, Mark Richards, notes: "We are very excited to submit our iPhone app to be placed into Apples iTunes store. We have taken the time to develop what we think is the leading, most functional mobile voice and video application in the store. We like the advantage that our app brings in that even though Facetime is a great application, you are unable to place a video call to a person who is running the worlds most popular operating system, Googles Android. With the VoX App, you can call video to video in a cross platform environment, you do not need to know if the other person has an iPhone or an Android phone. We believe this component gives our app a distinct advantage. We hope to have approval from Apple within the next week so that it will be it available in the iTunes digital store to approximately 500 million global subscribers."
Similar to the Android App, when the iPhone app is approved, a user will be able to subscribe entirely on an iPhone or iPad and choose a U.S. phone number without leaving the interface, which makes the sign up process more elegant than many competitors. The mobile VoIP paid plans are a low cost of entry for a high quality and reliable mobile VoIP service offering. New subscribers will be allowed to download the app for a free 60 minute trial and make calls to any country on the unlimited calling list, or sign up for the Pay And Go plan for as little as one dollar, literally a pay as you go plan with no monthly subscription fees.
"We fully expect iPhone users will experience the high quality levels that we have achieved with our Android app, which is highly ranked in the both the Google Play Store and Samsung App Store," says Richards. "We have also enabled both our Android and iPhone apps to be topped up using our newly launched VoX mobile calling cards. We intend to release both iPhone and Android specific top up cards in the coming weeks to the retail stores."
VoX Communications delivers VoIP and video telephone service anywhere in the world that has a stable broadband connection. It recently entered the mobile VoIP services and applications arena so that its VoIP can utilize any 3G/4G or WiFi connection. VoX differentiates itself through a unique combination of high quality voice services, flexible back-office capabilities and automated provisioning systems that enable a quick turn-up for app users who are looking for a second mobile phone line or low-cost international calling, without using any voice-plan minutes from their mobile phone carrier. It offers a feature-rich, low-cost, high-quality alternative to traditional wireless phone services. For more information, visit:
