Apple offering trial version of Motion

759 Remember when we were kids, and after school we'd head off to the creek, swing on the old tire and talk about how much we wanted to run trial versions of professional motion graphics applications when we grew up?

Well, that time is now. Apple computer is offering a free trial version of Motion, available for downloading from Apple, or on a CD from unspecified locations.

Now, before you go a'runnin' off to grab a free app from Apple, there's some things you should know. First of all, Motion is a program that requires a lot of rescources. Apple recommends

* Dual 2GHz Power Mac G5
* 2GB of RAM or more
* Mac OS X v10.3.5 or later
* ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card or better

But for those of you who have less than the latest and the greatest, there's still hope. Apple is offering a free utility that will check and see if your system meets the minimum requirements to run the application, and my 17" iMac 1.25 GHz passed the test.

You'll need to give Apple a valid e-mail address to get the authorization code, but for those of you dying to try out a new filmmaking app, you now have 30 days to finish your masterpiece where everyone looks blurry.

Bill's been using Macs since the late 80s. When he's not making smartass remarks to amuse Kirk Hiner, he enjoys fighting for the user.
