Accordance Bible Software 8.0.2 Update Released

2207 OakTree Software, Inc. has released the second bugfix update to Accordance 8, a recently-released major upgrade to its market-leading Macintosh Bible study software. Accordance 8 now offers native Intel support along with new search capabilities, display options, and interface enhancements.

Accordance is a powerful program that allows you to search for information in the Bible. Search for Greek and Hebrew grammatical searches, graphical searches, statistical analysis, and more. The demo quits after each 60 minutes of use (but can be restarted), and is limited to modules under 2 MB. A tutorial using the demo modules is included with the Help files

"We're very pleased to offer Accordance in a Universal Binary," explains David Lang, OakTree's Vice President of Development. "We used the Intel transition as a strategic opportunity to make sweeping improvements to the Accordance codebase, which has been in continuous development since the early nineties. Not only is Accordance now Intel-native, it's well-positioned to adapt to the future of Mac OS X."

In addition to Universal compatibility, new features of Accordance 8 include:

• A new Library window for finding, organizing, and opening Bible texts, commentaries, and other study aids.

• The ability to drag the mouse over an English word to highlight the original Greek or Hebrew word it translates.

• The ability to search for literary connections between different books of the Bible, or even separate texts such as the Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls.

• Text display options for changing the window background, using custom colors, and adjusting the leading.

• The ability to create and search custom workspaces.

• Numerous improvements to user notes, color highlighting, 3D maps, grammatical searching, and more.

New in version 8.0.2:
• Corrected some printing issues. However, the developers are aware of crashes with certain HP printers, Intel iMac, OS X 10.5.3, and the Intel version of Accordance, and have not yet found a workaround except to switch to a different printer driver (in another program) so that Accordance accesses that printer driver rather than the one that Apple supplies with Leopard for HP printers. You could print to a PDF, then later print the PDF

System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

Accordance 8 can be purchased as a download for $49. The cost to upgrade from Accordance 7 is $39. The Accordance program can be used in conjunction with a free downloadable package of Bibles and study aids, or with larger packages delivered on CD.
