New Less Tangible - A Portable Portable

929 In This Week's Less Tangible, Marc Zeedar says:

"Today's laptops are portable and incredibly powerful. In many situations, they are superior to desktops, offering all the processing speed you need in a much smaller, more convenient design. Though I have a desktop G4, my main machine is my Titanium PowerBook. It lives on my lap. Loaded with a gig of RAM, a 1-Ghz processor, a 60-gig hard drive, and a DVD-burning Superdrive, it's everything I need.

"But there is one drawback to having all that power in a portable package.
Vulnerability. Since I depend so much on my PowerBook, I'd be lost without it. For one thing the Ti's probably worth more than my car (which tells you something about my car wink. For another, the PowerBook contains the source code to the software I write, my novel-in-progress, my websites, and tons of other projects. That stuff's invaluable to me.

"Sure, I backup most of the data on it regularly, but not every day. What if it got stolen or dropped? I'd be up a creek."

The solution........?
