Review - FileMaker Go for iPhone and iPad11494

FileMaker Go lets you take your FileMaker database (relational or flat) with you wherever you go. That's a big thing. FileMaker Go, either for the iPad or the iPhone, lets you access your database either from a server (via the web) or via copying your database directly onto your device. The only complete limitation is that you cannot perform any database development and/or alteration from FileMaker Go. FileMaker Go is a FileMaker database "player."

Bomberman - iPod game review15084

BombermanIn Bomberman, you play a robot who has grown bored working at a bomb factory, and wants to get out. You know, because he's every man's Bomberman. Who doesn't get bored with their daily job and tries to flee 20 levels to the open outdoors? The difference between us and Bomberman, however, is that we don't have to navigate mazes, bomb enemies, find secret doors and battle bosses to leave our jobs. Well, except for Wal-Mart employees, anyway.

Artistic cases and skins for Apple iPods/iPhone reviewed19436

I imagine that iPod case developers are angered each time an iPod revision renders their products obsolete, but thrilled at the opportunity to get another new product on the market. The developers of the cases covered here combat this problem with designs that are easily adaptable to any iPod (and even iPhone) style, while not compromising the decidedly artistic design. In fact, these cases focus almost entirely on the appearance, which makes for some stunning design work.

Sonic the Hedgehog - iPod game review11811

Sonic the HedgehogThe little blue hedgehog who wouldn't die is now on the iPod. Sonic the Hedgehog couldn't save the Sega consoles, but can he turn the iPod into a legitimate handheld gaming device? No, of course not, and for the obvious reasons. Still, I have to admit there is a certain charm to having one of the greatest platform games of all time at my fingertips.

iPod classic - review [updated October 10, 2007]13658

iPod classicNow, we've got a classic iPod. Is it really classic? Well, it's the oldest, and I guess that's point, even if the only resemblance the iPod classic bears with the original is it's basic shape. The new model is a streamlined, robust entry that's easily your best iPod choice if you watch a lot of video or have a large music collection. Is it really a classic, though? No, and it probably won't become so with time. The game incompatibility and TV Out problems, though, maybe become two of Apple's classic blunders.

Charles Moore Reviews TuneTech 1.5 Maintenance And Management Tools Suite for iPod6215

image Think of it as Drive Genius for your iPod. TuneTech for iPod doesn't have quite as many functions and features as everything-including-the-kitchen-sink Drive Genius, but it is similar in beiing a do-all suite of tools and helpers for maintenance and management of your iPod (most hard drive based models).

iQuiz - iPod game review11974

Apple's iQuiz brings the quiz game show to your 5G iPod, and does so rather effectively. It's a crisp, polished package that has some extremely unique features, and it's also the best deal out there for iPod gamers. Why? Because it's only 99 cents, first of all, but also because it's the only game that'll grow and change as your iPod music grows and changes.

The Sims Pool - iPod game review11772

Remove The Sims from its name, and The Sims Pool is still a great pool sim. That it's this good on the iPod is very impressive, but not really surprising; Electronic Arts has made it quite clear they understand the iPod as a gaming platform, and what that should entail. The Sims tie-in isn't needed here, but I suppose it does add an interesting element for those who'd otherwise tired of just playing pool. And if pool is all you want, you can bypass the Sims elements. That makes this a great game for the iPod that would actually be a worthwhile purchase on any platform.

Game Review - Cubis 2 for iPod11557

Here, then, we have a game perfectly suited to the iPod. It's suited to the controls, and it's suited to the small screen. What it may not be suited to is your timeframe. If you only break out an iPod game when you're trying to kill time before an appointment or while you're waiting for your kid's trombone lesson to end, the addictive nature of Cubis 2 may cause you to be late on more than one occasion.

Review - Koss P16 and PortaPro headphones19831

If you've read any of my iPod related reviews, you know how I feel about the earbuds Apple includes with every iPod model. They're better than nothing, sure, and they're actually quite a bit better than the headphones most MP3 player manufacturers include with their models. Still, the sound is never any better than good, and no matter how I place them, I can't get the things to stay in my ears. Finding a better pair of headphones is a fairly easy task, but I prefer to not spend too much money, I want a pair that's still somewhat portable, and I'd prefer to find a unit that works for movies and games as well as it does for music. This time around, I settled on two models from Koss: the P16 Stereophone and the PortaPro Stereophone.
