I imagine that iPod case developers are angered each time an iPod revision renders their products obsolete, but thrilled at the opportunity to get another new product on the market. The developers of the cases covered here combat this problem with designs that are easily adaptable to any iPod (and even iPhone) style, while not compromising the decidedly artistic design. In fact, these cases focus almost entirely on the appearance, which makes for some stunning design work.

Last week, I took a look at a couple hard cases and armbands for the iPhone. There were some good cases, there; you should check them out. But here at Applelinks, we're all about equal opportunity. We'll never discriminate against a case because of its construction, so we'll now take a look at a few leather cases from Belkin, Griffin and PDO, and throw in one silicone case for good measure.

Finally got that iPhone you've been wanting? Good for you. It's a great device that has revolutionized the cell phone industry, but it's not perfect. There are still some things missing both in software and hardware. The inability to customize ringtones caused an outcry against the iPhone when it was released. Considering that most of the supplied ringtones were completely useless, it even bugged me. Hacks quickly followed, and Apple eventually added the ability to create ringtones using iTunes purchases...for a price. And yet the easiest, most trouble free, and cheapest method comes not from Apple, but from Ambrosia Software with iToner.

The question, of course, is whether the iPhone is worth at least $500 plus $60+ a month. If it were just the phone, I'd say no, no way. But truth be told, I've barely used the phone. I rarely ever will. I have, however, used the web and e-mail a lot. I've shown off photos of my kids with it, and I've watched the 1980 Flash Gordon movie when I've been trapped waiting for an appointment or what have you. I've had my wife check to see who made the Seahawks practice squad while I drove up I-71, and I've checked maps while walking to events in unfamiliar cities. All of this has been surprisingly easy to do...
