According to Silicon.com, that is indeed the case.Last year the site's Agenda Setters poll placed the Apple CEO at postion #15, and this year he leads the pack. Too bad Bill Gates is right behind at #2. The following considerations contributed to the selection of Jobs as #1: Our panel was impressed by his decision to turn to the open source community to develop the core of the company's next generation operating system, OS X, and a dedication to produce quality hardware such as the iPod music player. There's no arguing with any of that. We do question whether "preaching to the choir" honors such as this have any real meaning, especially considering the other 49 names on the list, almost all of whom are male and make tons of money running major corporations. We're not even sure we like most of these guys named "agenda setters," in fact, with the obvious exception of Steve Jobs. What we've always felt about Jobs is that he seems to be motivated by more than a desire to own all the marbles, and we like that. Come to think of it, the other people on that list can use an agenda setter like the Apple CEO, so congratulations and full speed ahead. 'Nuff said.
