Taos, New Mexico, U.S.A., 3:00 a.m., MDT -- Someone just emailed to ask why the Paris keynote wasn't being Webcast. Well, so far we'd say it isn't being Webcast because there hasn't been anything new announced. Panther will cost 149 Euros, hmm. THREE A.M.?! We have to get our brakes fixed in the morning. Oh no, it is morning. Wait, here's another update ... 3:03 a.m. -- Junking Macworld UK, they aren't updating often enough. Our German buddies claim their site reloads every 90 seconds, but it sure doesn't seem to be. Ah, yes it does, but they aren't posting every 90 seconds. 3:07 a.m. -- HUZZAH! Finally some news: new 17-inch PowerBooks, 1.33 GHz, up to 2GB DDR memory, Radeon Mobility 9600, USB 2, woo-hoo! 3:10 a.m. -- New 12-inch PowerBooks, 1GHz, up to 1.25GB of memory, DVI connector, Geforce FX5200, USB 2, very nice. And the 15-inch? 3: 14 a.m. -- "Die Menge jubelt," and well they should, because here are the (ta-dah!) new 15-inch PowerBooks! 1.25GHz, up to 2GB of memory, Radeon Mobility 9600, FireWire 800, USB 2, AirPort Extreme, looks like the previous two. 3:18 a.m. -- New wireless mouse and keyboard! These are the "one more thing" items for the keynote, and it looks like the keyboard features encrpytion to prevent key-logging. MacNews.de doesn't say how many buttons the mouse has, so we're hunting for a press release. But there's the hard news: upgraded PowerBooks, including an aluminum 15-inch model, and the wireless mouse and keyboard. Finally!
