Taos, New Mexico, U.S.A., 2:11 a.m., MDT -- This is really humorous. Since we announced earlier that we'd be staying up to bring our North American readers the first news from the Apple Expo in Paris, a number of you are staying up too! But c'mon now, Massachusetts: you should really be in bed! (As we typed that, an email came in from Amir in Singapore, offering to translate the MacBidouille site's coverage! Good Lord, it's 4:00 a.m. there. But what day is it?)

A Denver reader has been sending us the URLs for a Google translation of MacNews.de, a German site with on-the-scene keynote coverage. We just haven't had a chance to tell him that we can read German, and a good this too, because the translation is hilariously bad.

2:19 a.m. -- A European Applelinks reader just sent this:

Geez, I know all you Mac journalists like to seem fancy by giving all sorts of times for todays keynote, but nobody, and I mean NOBODY, provided. the actual local time. That means something to me because I am living in Europe (same time as Paris). GMT is a little confusing because the delta between that and Europe changes with the seasons.

We couldn't agree more. For the record, folks, Paris is on CET (Central European Time), and in the future we promise not to be so irritatingly geocentric (that's a fancy word for ignorant!) By the way, all that's happened in Paris so far is that Steve Jobs has been showing off the G5:

Approximate translation: There is Apple fur on the damn G5: "I think I've been mugged, sorry." (Hah! Don't you wish you had two degrees in German?) Wait, Jobs also promised a 3GHz G5 in less than a year. Old news, old news.
