FileMaker spotlights integration with WebObjects 5.2 and Keynote 1.1June 24, 2003
FileMaker will demonstrate connectivity between its flagship software FileMaker Pro 6 and two key Apple software applications, Web Objects 5.2 and Keynote 1.1, at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference being held this week. WooF, WebObjects on FileMaker, from 360 Works, a FileMaker Solutions Alliance member, is a WebObjects adaptor which allows WebObjects 5.2 to read and write to a FileMaker Pro database, allowing for powerful database web publishing. WebObjects 5.2 gives developers a comprehensive suite of tools and frameworks for quickly developing standards-based Web services and Java server applications. A powerful rapid application development environment, backed by Web service, data access, and page generation capabilities, extends the reach of developers and reduces the cost of ownership by ensuring flexible, maintainable design. WebObjects is the ideal way to develop, deploy, and extend powerful Web services. WooF brings this performance and scalability to FileMaker. In addition, FileMaker will demonstrate its FileMaker to Keynote 1.1 tool, a free tool allowing FileMaker customers to transform data contained within FileMaker Pro 6 databases into native presentations for Apple Computer's new Keynote presentation software. Leveraging the XML/XSLT support built within FileMaker Pro 6, the new tool helps developers extract text, graphics, and chart data from FileMaker Pro 6 databases to build professional quality Keynote 1.1 presentations. "Integration between FileMaker Pro and Apple's Keynote and WebObjects 5.2 allows both Apple users and developers to benefit from data contained within their FileMaker Pro databases," said FileMaker president, Dominique Goupil. In addition to the FileMaker to Keynote 1.1 tool, there are over 20 business-ready XSLT stylesheets available for free download at FileMaker XML Central (see FileMaker XSLT Library). Each of the stylesheets, ranging from FileMaker Pro-to-Microsoft Excel to FileMaker Pro-to-iPod, translates XML grammars, allowing FileMaker Pro to exchange data with a large and growing number of other applications supporting XML.
