There were some very provocative headlines published
earlier today that probably boosted Apple stock for a time.
According to the New
York Post, a Windows version of the iTunes Music Store
would be ready to roll by the end of June. Mac
Observer called Apple: oh no, it won't be!
The timetable previously announced still stands, in other
words: Apple says a Windows version of the music download
service will make an appearance no sooner than the end of
2003. Obviously it would be wonderful if this turned out to
be conservative and the service came on line earlier than
that, but don't hold your breath. The next expansion of the
download system will probably be to European Mac users, in
any case.
(Windows users will just have to wait or else buy
Macs.)
