In a remarkably spirited counter-attack against Microsoft
Web site code that adversely affects Opera browsers, the
Norwegian company has just issued a new "Bork edition"
browser that renders the text on the Microsoft MSN site in
Muppet Show Swedish chef language.
"In the chef's mock Swedish, the MSN site
headline 'Weekend movie guide' is rendered 'Veekend
mufeee-a gooeede-a' and 'Looking for a new car?' is
'Luukeeng fur a noo cer?' to Opera browser users."
On all other sites, the new browser works normally.
Opera's chief technology officer, Haakon Wium Lie, says
that the Swedish chef browser is intended to send a message
that Microsoft can't treat the Internet as its own
possession and that his company's release of the browser is
an alternative to suing.
