General Cybernetics, an Apple authorized online reseller, has posted this note on their Website:
“Jason Eric Smith is just a normal guy living in New Orleans Louisiana, going to college, and trying to do better for himself. Recently he was the victim of a theft. A rather nasty person used a fake cashiers check to steal Mr. Smith’s PowerBook. After getting no help from authorities, he decided to let the Mac community handle the problem. You can read the entire account in his words here. Eric has been telling everyone that if they wanted to donate to his cause that they should donate to a local charity instead. You see, he now has to find a way to pay his Spring Tuition at the University of New Orleans, and replace his PowerBook. Well, we can’t pay his tuition, but we can take care of the computer problem. This weekend I spoke to Mr. Smith, and we here at General Cybernetics are donating a new iBook 12.1 ComboDrive system to him, and he should have it in the next couple of days. Moral of the story, Mac users will help each other through anything.
