Simple Dock Preference Panes 1.0 Launches Individual Pref Panes From Dock
Make a script from the script source below using the Script Editor in Mac OS X. You can put the script in ~/Library/Scripts and run it using the Script Runner in /Applications/Applescript or you can save it as in application from the Script Editor and just double-click it. It finds all your System Preference panes in the various places where they may be installed locally and makes a folder in ~/Documents that you can drag to your Dock, so when you control-click that folder's icon in the Dock, you can select the individual preference pane of your choice. You can run the script again if you install something that adds new preference panes, and aliases will be added to the docked folder without your being prompted to do anything else. There are a couple of freeware applications that make the individual panes available from the dock, but this Applescript method requires a very slight degree of use of system resources. Maybe the next Finder will let me script copying the icons as well, but in the mean time they work without icons. .

Drop Script Backgrounder version 1.0 Drop script backgrounder is a freeware app that turns an applescript compiled as a stay open application into a background only app. It does this by editing the "plst" resource. It can also edit this resource in other carbon apps if it exists, but the results of doing that may be unexpected. OSX is less strict about background apps opening windows, they will not crash the machine if they do so like an OS9 app will, but you will not be able to access any menus even if a window is open. The only way to quit a script that is running as a background process is with another script that just tells it to quit. Otherwise you wont even know it's running unless you look at the process viewer. This program was originally written as a helper app for acgi dispatcher to let you run acgi programs with apache on OSX the way you could on OS9. To turn a compiled script application into a background only application just drag and drop it onto the program icon, or into the program window if it's already running. To turn it back to normal drag it into the program again. Backgrounder is smart enough to know if it's already a background app and act accordingly. Dont drag an application that is already running onto backgrounder! If it cannot find the resource of if the resource contains data that backgrounder does not recognize it will not try to edit the program and will return an error while leaving the program untouched. Though the program has never corrupted a script while I was using it and should not be able to do so, you use it at your own risk and should make a backup copy of your work before converting it. Drop Script Backgrounder is released as freeware

Prompt! 3.0 Simple Teleprompter Application Prompt! is a simple teleprompter application. When on-camera talent performs, they read what they speak from a teleprompter. Traditionally, this task is performed by a dedicated computer with an application to edit and scroll the text at a user driven speed using a piece of hardware called a "scroller". The Video output of the scrolling text is reflected from a half silvered (pellix) mirror and the camera shoots through the other side of the mirror so that the talent is looking into the camera but reading the reflection of the text. This requires lots of hardware and software to achieve the same results as Prompt! and a laptop computer or computer monitor. By placing the laptop computer between the talent and the camera the talent can read text from the top of the laptop screen and still appear to be looking at the camera if the camera is far enough back using a long lens. Trial and effort is the key to getting a natural look to this process but the further the camera is from the subject, the better. If the talent will be controlling their own scrolling then mouse control is the best and if you have long mouse cord, that's even better. There is a built-in function to allow someone else to control the speed by using the keyboard or mouse. Use both if you like. Features:
· Text can be imported and exported
Prompt! saves its file so you can import the copy for the talent to read and theadjust the settings and then give the application and the file to your on-camera person to practice at their leisure in their own environment.
Simple is the key to Prompt! as it has very little word processing functions and thus less clutter to the application. You can delete selected characters and words and type in new copy but that is about all. Text is imported to the application but if you do make some changes the text can be exported.
Prompt! is freeware
