The headline pretty much says it all and simultaneously
expresses the extent of our own knowledge of the matter.
Imagine our surprise when the latest Mac Home Journal
"Hot Tips Weekly eMail Announcement turned out to be a
farewell letter from Hot Tips editor and (former) president
of Mac Home Journal, Jim Capparell. We don't think he'd mind
if we reprinted the full text of his message below, so here
it is. Jim has contributed greatly to the world of Macintosh
and we wish him well. It sounds like the magazine will
soldier on, in any event:
"Well, there are changes in the works. Effective
immediately I am no longer with Mac Home Journal. The
magazine has been sold and after 10 years I find myself
with some free time - maybe my golf game will start
looking like I didn't pick up the sticks yesterday ;-)
It has been a real pleasure getting to know you and
your questions have helped me get a good idea of the
needs of regular Mac users. Thank you. Mac Home is in
good hands and I know you can expect more of the same
great information from the magazine and the new staff.
Hot Tips itself will restart with a new editor in a few
weeks so please be patient and with your input and
feedback it will probably be even better. I hope you
continue too give Mac Home your enthusiasm and support.
I've often asked or reminded each of you to be sure to
subscribe to Mac Home and I've been very gratified at
your response don't forget it is how we are able to
continue to bring you Hot Tips.
As for me, well some time off (I've been in publishing
for 20 years - some of you know that I published Antic
and Start in the old Atari days as well as an Apple II
mag., a radio control hobby title and even an Amiga
magazine). I do have some plans that hopefully many of
you will have an interest in - a Mac book has been on my
mind for some time now so watch for that later this year.
Also, I've really enjoyed the interaction I've had with
many of you, so I think you can expect to hear from me in
a month or so regarding a tips project and of course the
book. Until then thank you again for your questions, your
contributions and your support."
