TinkerTool 2.1 Adds Functionality And Options To Many OS X Features
Do you want to control anti-aliasing of fonts? Would you like translucent terminal windows? Do you want to have all hidden files and folders displayed in the Finder? All that and many more hidden options of Mac OS X can be activated with the TinkerTool utility.
Without using the command-line, you can activate the following preference options:
Enable or disable the Mac OS Desktop
Disable the animation effect when opening files
Show hidden and system files in the Finder
Make the Finder a standard application with a "Quit" menu item
Control display options for the Finder's column view
Control the scaling options for the Desktop background image
Set the Dock position and pinning
Select the Dock animation effect
Use transparent Dock icons to mark hidden applications
Select different styles for display of the scrollbar arrows
Control automatic play of audio CDs or DVDs
Set the file format for screenshots
Change the language for startup and login without having to reinstall the OS
Select the default fonts used in Cocoa applications
Activate transparent Terminal windows
Control font-smoothing in most Mac OS X applications
TinkerTool 2 is a module for the System Preferences application. Installation is done automatically, an installer application is included.
The program is compatible with Mac OS X 10.1 (or later versions) only. If you want to use TinkerTool with earlier versions of Mac OS X, please use TinkerTool 1.52 instead.
New in this version:
TinkerTool now comes with an automatic installer. The installer makes handling easier and uses workarounds for bugs in Mac OS X 10.1 that could prevent TinkerTool from appearing in System Preferences. Additionally, it is now possible to deselect TinkerTool language packages during installation. The installer itself supports 15 different languages.
A Swedish language package has been added.
The Icelandic language package had to be removed. However, a preliminary package is still included.
A new reset button allows users to reset preferences not only to Apple's defaults but also to the state they were before using TinkerTool 2.1.
New: a "Quit" menu item can be added to the Finder
New: it is possible to control options of the Finder's column view. Icons, arrows, and the preview column can be disabled.
New: the maximum number of lines the Finder uses to display long file names in icon view mode can be set
New: the Finder can be relaunched from within TinkerTool to make its settings take effect immediately
New: the file format for screenshots can be set
An additional warning that explains the Finder's auto-correction of background image settings has been added
Cosmetic fix: the version warning regarding incompatible operating systems appeared as panel, not as sheet
Cosmetic fix: touching but not changing the startup language setting sometimes caused a password panel to appear. It now appears only if necessary
Bug fix: the reset button established the "separate arrows" preference for scrollbar view mode. This has been corrected to "at both ends"
Bug fix: changing scrollbar view mode displayed a "login to activate" message. This has been corrected to a "relaunch applications" message
Bug fix: changing the startup language only had an effect on the boot phase but not on the login window. This problem has been fixed
System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.1 or higher

CopyPaste X 1.1 Multiple Clipboard Display/Editor Utility
One of the early wonders of the Mac was its revolutionary ability to do copy and paste across various applications. Unlike other areas in the Mac's system software that have changed and progressed over the years, copying and pasting has not evolved. How many times have you found yourself going back and forth copying in one application and pasting in a different application, wishing to yourself that you could copy 5-10 items at a time, then go to another application and paste each of these items. CopyPaste gives you this and much more. It turns out that having additional clipboards is incredibly useful. CopyPaste eliminates tedious repetitive work and increases your ability to get the job done.
CopyPaste-X magnifies the clipboard in many ways.
Clipboard Extender - adds an infinite number of easy to access clipboards via menu or key command. Without CopyPaste the Mac has only one clipboard.
Clip Recorder - remembers the last 10 items copied via command c and keeps them in a stack.
Clipboard Editor - Edit any clipboard by simply double clicking in any clipboard palette.
Save Clipboards thru Restarts - allows all 10 Clipboards to be saved thru Shutdown or Restart. Without CopyPaste the Mac does not save its clipboard.
Drag and Drop - allows dragging anything to and from the CopyPaste Palette. Not only selections from a program, but also text, picture, sound or ClipSet files can be dragged. Now uses Quicktime to read files.
Registered users receive: The built in abilities of CopyPaste-X +
A key to remove the startup (reminder) dialog
E-mail hotline tech support (rarely needed but nice)
Restore Clipboards at Restart is available only to registered users
The knowledge that they are participating in the evolution of CopyPaste
Email notifying you immediately of new versions
Clip Archive in full is available only to registered users
Good karma and a deep refreshing sleep at night
New in this version:
The palettes for the Extender and the Recorder show a preview of a copied picture when you point your mouse to a clipboard.
You can now create as many Clip Sets you like. They get listed in the "Clip Set" menu located at the bottom of the Clipboard Extender Palette. You can create rename or delete any Clip Set.
The editor now supports tabs, currently set to a default width
The Special menu in the Editor has two new commands, "Insert Long Date" and "Insert Bahá'í Date"
Improvements:
The palettes for the Extender and the Recorder are resizable now.
If you select the format "Plain" on a selection of text in the Editor, the color will return to black and sub- or superscript formating will return to the baseline.
the "Statistics" function now works on selected text. If nothing is selected, it shows information about the entire text.
Bugfixes:
Many problems with the display of Japanese text have been solved.
