Apple Looks Good to A.G. Edwards Analyst

The gist of the argument presented here is that while consumers are "bored" with PCs, people are still spending money for 3rd-party peripherals and other gadgets, so niche-marketed Apple products are seen as unusual, different, and attractive. The company's retail strategy makes sense to the interviewee as well: if consumers are staying out of computer stores, then "ambushing" them in shopping malls like Apple is doing makes good sense. He also likes the "digital hub" idea and credits Cupertino with leading the industry in this regard.

Comments: And why are people bored with PCs? No compelling, must-have applications that require new hardware, according to the above. We're not so sure. It may simply be that most of the people who need and can afford computers have gotten one. We'd like a new G4 and a big flat-screen monitor, but the bulletproof editorial 8600 runs like a fiend and this Sony isn't broke yet. Maybe Apple and Sony products are just too good...
