IBM won a Macworld Best of Show award for its latest voice recognition software product, IBM ViaVoice for Macintosh, OS X Edition. Its third such award since January 2000, IBM's voice recognition technology has again been selected as a top choice for Mac users, allowing the Mac community to communicate more naturally with their computers through voice. IBM showcased a beta version of its IBM ViaVoice for Macintosh, OS X Edition at Macworld, NY. Fully integrated with the Macintosh OS X platform, it allows users to dictate directly naturally into most text applications, easily customize command and control functions, launch and surf the Web, and navigate Apple's new Mac OS X popular Aqua interface. With a sleek new look, ViaVoice for Mac OS X was designed to take advantage of Mac OS X's popular Aqua interface. It sustains the Aqua look and feel throughout, including a new Command Center, redesigned Voice Center, SpeakPad and Preferences. The product will be available this fall. MacCentral.com awarded the Macworld Expo Best of Show Awards. To qualify, companies needed to announce or demonstrate a new technology for the first time at Macworld. IBM also won Best of Show awards at Macworld New York 2000 for ViaVoice for Macintosh Enhanced Edition and at Macworld San Francisco 2000 for ViaVoice Millennium for Macintosh, as well as Best Vision of the Future Award at PC Expo 2000 for its IBM WebSphere Voice Server with ViaVoice Technology.
