CMS Launches Mac Support with Pocket and Credit Card-Sized Storage
CMS Launches Mac Support with Pocket and Credit Card-Sized Storage After months of development and testing, CMS Peripherals announced today the expansion of their entire line of USB ABS (Automatic Backup Systems) and new Fire & Forget Type II PC-Card hard disk drives (HDDs) to include support for Macintosh users. Incredibly easy to use, these pocket and credit card-sized solutions provide Mac notebook and desktop users unprecedented backup and removable storage capacity ranging from 2 to 30 gigabytes (GB). The USB ABS delivers a stable, high data throughput for backup, additional storage and recovery of files. Upon connection, the ABS' patent-pending `automatic launcher' technology immediately initiates a complete or incremental backup of your HDD, storing all data in native file format without requiring the user to input a single software command. Available in 2GB and 5GB (Fire & Forget), and 6GB, 10GB, 20GB, and 30GB (USB ABS) capacities, users can backup or store files and applications without taking up additional drive space on their computers. Plugged into a host system, all files, contacts, applications, etc. are accessible from the ABS, which appears as an additional drive letter, without requiring the installation of software or the transfer of files to the system. In addition to providing Macintosh PowerBook users with a storage solution they can fit in their wallet, the Fire & Forget drive weighs less than two ounces and needs only a single PC-Card slot to operate. Requiring no additional cables or power support Fire & Forget is clearly the ultimate in mobile storage solutions. ``Traditionally, Mac users have had very few choices in the way of easy to use backup and removable storage solutions,'' said Ken Burke, President of CMS Peripherals. ``With the expansion of our USB ABS and Fire & Forget product lines, we're able to offer Mac users an economical range of compact solutions ensuring both sharable external storage and data protection.'' Compatible with the Macintosh OS 8.6 and 9 (OS X coming soon) in 6GB, 10GB, 20GB, and 30GB capacities, USB ABS solutions are now shipping with a three-year warranty. Pricing starts at $329.00 MSRP. The Fire & Forget Type II hard drives in 2GB and 5GB capacities are shipping with a one-year warranty. MSRP for the 2GB Fire & Forget is $349 and $499 for the 5GB. Solutions are available through major distributors, corporate resellers, mail order and direct from the company's website, http://www.cmsproducts.com. USB 2.0 and FireWire solutions are currently under development. Contour Releases MiniPRO Optical Mouse For Use With PowerBooks and iBooks Features:
