Apple Financing and "Support" May be Hazardous to Your Bank Account

A short while ago we posted an article about a friend of ours whose malfunctioning iBook apparently arrived at Apple Repair full of liquid! She of course had nothing to do with this bizarre circumstance but stands virtually accused by the same people who should be helping her out. Unfortunately, there's more...

If you buy your Macintosh directly from Apple and finance the purchase, you too could find yourself having to pay for useless equipment sabotaged by persons unknown. And we think this miscarriage of justice is much more worthy of a certain CEO's attention than a Cube with a few dings in it! Herewith the latest message from our correspondent:

"...They really have me on this one. There's no way I can prove I didn't (or someone else here didn't) spill liquid into the computer because the fact remains...according to them there is now liquid in the computer. What i plan to do is document everything in writing and send it as a letter to someone, I don't know who...not that it will do any good of course. But it might make me feel better.

The other thing is, you know Apple itself doesn't carry the contracts on their financed items [No, we didn't! -- JHF]. They sell them to a finance company. so there's no way I'm going to get out of paying for a computer that doesn't work because it's full of 'liquid'."

The lady may be down but she's not out! Considering all that Apple is putting her through, the following attempt at levity shows considerable spirit. Her last words to us were:

"Hey, maybe someone in shipping/receiving confused it for a toilet seat and...nah..."
