The First Annual Applelinks Moofie Awards voting booths are scheduled to shut down on May 31st, making this the final week in which Mac gamers can cast their votes for their favorite computer games.

"I'm pleased with the turnout thus far," stated Kirk Hiner, senior editor at Applelinks and president of The Academy of Bots and Polygons, the group that selected the nominees. "This is a great opportunity for everyone to stand up and thank all those who developed for or ported games to the Mac in 1999. We had some great games, and I'm as curious as anyone to see what our readers consider to be the best."

The Moofie has been created to recognize achievement in the burgeoning field of Macintosh gaming. Twelve Moofies in categories such as Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Short Film, Best Song and Best Cinematography will be presented at the First Annual Applelinks Moofie Awards Gala to be held at Applelinks.com in early July. Nominees were selected by the Academy of Bots and Polygons, a group of Mac journalists and retailers representing Applelinks, macgamer's ledge, Mac-O-Rama, macgamer, games4mac campaign, Insanely Great Mac, MacGameNews, and macspel.com.

One week left to vote also means one week left to enter the giveaway contest. "Visitors don't need to enter the giveaway to vote, but I don't know why they wouldn't," stated Kirk. "They'll get no spam, but they could get one of many great prizes. We're giving away everything from games to t-shirts to salt and pepper shakers...seriously."
